I have been teaching double bass since 2016. I have helped middle and high school students achieve spots in Mid-State and All-State Orchestra. I have also enjoyed working with adult students who are learning music as a hobby or want to learn more about new styles of music.
What will I learn in lessons with you?
We will establish good technique on the instrument to ensure healthy hands, comfort playing in tune and confidence using the whole fingerboard. We can then build on these basics to explore any musical ideas the student is interested in!
Often with adult students I hear “I wish I stuck with music lessons as a kid, but it was so boring!” When I’m teaching lessons I keep this in mind. I try to connect with my students and learn about what music they love to listen to. Sometimes this is 80’s rock, video game songs or music from TV/film. Whatever the musical passion, I try to weave it into our lesson curriculum to keep lessons fresh, fun and engaging.
I believe that all styles of music have musical lessons we can learn from!
Where do you teach lessons?
I teach socially-distanced/masked lessons at Williams Fine Violins .
I also teach virtual lessons. This is a great option for students who are seeking extra convenience and safe interaction!
